Admission for M.Sc zoology in IGNOU
Hello sir I want to take admission in M.Sc Zoology program of IGNOU so please provide me detailed information about this program. IGNOU offers M.Sc in Life Science (M.Sc LS) program of 2 year duration. The details of this program are given below. M.Sc in Life Science (M.Sc LS) Minimum Duration: 2 Years Maximum Duration: 5 Years Course Fee: Rs. 5,000 Minimum Age: No bar Maximum Age: No bar Eligibility: i) B.Sc (3 yrs) Degree after 10+2 with Major/Honours in Life Sciences and any other related life science discipline/ Biosciences/ Botany/ Zoology or B.Sc General/Pass degree with Life sciences/Biosciences with Botany and Zoology (equal weightage) ii) At least 50 per cent marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade for General candidates and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates. Note: Programme fee of Rs. 5000 is per semester plus other charges (lab, registration, library, caution money charges as decided by the university from time to time) The Master’s degree Programme in Life Sciences is offered as a Regular On-Campus programme. The classroom teaching is done by IGNOU faculty and eminent experts invited from different institutions Theory classes as well as the practicals are held in School of Sciences, at IGNOU Headquarter, Maidangarhi, New Delhi Programme Structure A student, who wants to do the Master’s degree Programme in Life Sciences, has to earn 72 credits to complete the programme There are 4 semesters and a student has to earn 18 credits per semester. The minimum duration of the programme is 2 years. However, a student can complete the programme in a maximum time of 4 years. There is a common curriculum for semesters 1, 2 and 3, whereas in semester 4, the students will be given the option of specializing in one area from different areas of Life Sciences In each of the first three semesters- 1, 2 and 3, the student has to complete 12 credits worth of theory courses and 6 credits worth of lab work. In semester 4, students will have to opt for a specialisation package of elective courses worth 9 credits. They will also be required to do a dissertation and seminars worth 9 credits based on their specialization package. The seats for specialisation streams will be equally divided. The students will be allocated a specialisation stream according to their merit in the M.Sc. 1st and 2nd semester examinations.
