AIIMS MDS Courses

I want to know the eligibility criteria to apply for MDS course in All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) so can you tell me?

All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) invites application every year for admission in MDS course.

MDS eligibility Criteria-


BDS degree for MDS courses of a University recognized by the Dental Council of India and must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating Internship/Practical training

Candidates who complete their internship after 30th July, 2016 are not eligible for Registration in this examination.

The candidate must have obtained a minimum of the following marks in aggregate in all the BDS professional examinations-

For candidates belonging to the SC/ST Categories 50% marks in aggregate

For all other categories including OBC Category 55% marks in aggregate

Method of selection -

Selection will be made entirely on the basis of merit in the entrance examination and the choice of subject will be allocated on the basis of personal counseling.

Entrance Exam pattern-

Duration: 1 hours 30 minutes (90 minutes)

No. of questions: 90 Objective based multiple choice questions


Marking Scheme: 1 marks for each correct response


Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect response

Syllabus: Exam will be based on the syllabus taught during BDS

Reservation of Seats:

A total of 49.5% of Post-Graduate seats excluding those for Sponsored/Foreign National candidates are reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer).

For Indian Nationals 3% reservations for orthopaedic physically handicapped will be provided on horizontal basis.

General + Sponsored/Foreign National candidates 25.25%
SC Candidates 15%
ST Candidates 7.50%
OBC Candidates 27%
