Uveitis is the irritation of the uvea, the pigmented layer that lies between the internal retina and the external sinewy layer made out of the sclera and cornea. The uvea comprises of the center layer of pigmented vascular structures of the eye and incorporates the iris, ciliary body, and choroid.
