The Union Cabinet affirmed the setting up of an All India Institute of Ayurveda here on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

It will concentrate on basic examination, drug security assessment, institutionalization, quality control, and logical acceptance of Ayurvedic prescriptions.

The establishment will offer post-graduate and doctoral instructing and have a 200-bed exploration and referral healing center to encourage clinical examination. It would be at first set up as an independent enrolled body of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with the goal of raising it to the status of esteemed college in 10 years. The undertaking is planned to be finished inside the eleventh Plan time frame. The doctor's facility will be operational inside three years. Innovative work exercises and scholastic projects would be created later.

The establishment will team up with organizations occupied with training and research in differing frameworks of customary meds in nations, for example, Japan and South Korea. It will likewise communicate with establishments in created nations.

At present there are two post-graduate foundations on Ayurveda under the control of the Union government – the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, and the Institute of Post Graduate Training and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar.
