Re: Azusa Pacific University Evolution
Community members and APU understudies and staff assembled in Foothill Community Church for the occasion "Benevolent Dialog in the Church about Creation and Evolution," facilitated by the Center for Research in Science (CRIS) on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014. The occasion comprised of an open discussion between Deborah Haarsma, leader of BioLogos and Hugh Ross, president and organizer of Reasons to Believe, about the sources of mankind and the universe through the perspective of confidence. Haarsma and Ross talked about such subjects as the Big Bang hypothesis, the development of the species, the expert of sacred writing in science and the Garden of Eden over the span of the night. One of the real ideas examined in detail was the possibility that there are two books in life speaking to science and confidence, the book of nature and the book of sacred text that portray reality. A question and answer session with group of onlookers individuals quickly took after the address. Both speakers avowed that they can't help contradicting each other on a portion of the significant issues including science and confidence, however that they regard each other's position. Director of CRIS, Dr. Leslie Wickman stated, "this occasion was distinctive in that two researchers from noticeable 'para-church' associations speaking to varying perspectives on organic causes shared the stage. However, as opposed to being a verbal confrontation, it was a shot for helpful exchange." "Regularly when Christians with contradicting sees on science and confidence issues get together it's all warmth and no light… I've been called everything under the sun in a wide range of circumstances," Ross said. Be that as it may, he said he regards Haarsma and BioLogo's eagerness to take part in benevolent verbal confrontation in both private and open settings. "We regard each other's convictions, we regard each other's Christian strolls, and that is truly how divisive issues ought to be managed," Ross stated, "we should look for determination and compromise we where can. How about we not just assault each other."
