Bharathiar University is a state university in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, South India. Named after Tamil poet Subramania Bharathiar, the university was established in February 1982


PhD Eligibility

You should have passed a PG degree course

You must possessing a PG degree with 17 years of total duration of
study alone is eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.

Upper age limit for registering fresh candidates for Ph.D. is 57 years of age in the case of teacher of affiliated colleges and 59 years of age in the case of University teachers


Admission Procedure

The University should issue the notification through its website or advertise in the news papers for calling applications

Admissions shall bemade through a Common Eligibility Test followed by an interview.

The PG qualifying examinations marks converted to : 50 Marks

Common Eligibility Test : 35 Marks

Interview : 15 Marks

Total : 100 marks



The selection/interview committee for enrolling a scholar should be formed at the
institute with the following members.

1) Principal/Dean of concerned discipline

2) Head of the Department / Head of the Division

3) The recognized guides of the Department / Division
