Jamia Hamdard acquired the status of a 'Deemed to be University' in 1989 under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and in 2003 got accreditation by NAAC. It was re-accredited with Grade A in 2011.

The Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODL) of Jamia Hamdard was established in 2004. It launched programmes in limited number of streams and majority of course are healthcare education oriented.

B.Sc in Biology or B.Sc in Maths/Statistics with
Biology in 10+2 as one of the subjects

Minimum: 1 year (2 semesters of 6 months each)
