Birla Institute of Technology and Science (abbreviated BITS or Bits Pilani) is an Indian organization of advanced education and an esteemed college under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The college has 15 scholastic offices, and concentrates basically on undergrad instruction in designing and the sciences and on its administration program. It is broadly known as the best private designing organization and stands among the top Engineering and B-schools of India.

A recent report by the Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) found that BITS Pilani, IISc and the main five IITs represented 70–75 percent of Indian semiconductor research.

Yearly rankings of Engineering universities in India have been distributed by India Today since 1997. BITS Pilani positioned in the main five from 1997 to 2004, yet the school quit the rankings from 2005 to 2008 due to a pending court case amongst it and India Today. In 2009 the organization rejoined the rundown, positioned fifth-top designing school in India in 2012.

The Government of India's National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) evaluated BITS a five-star organization for the period finishing 7 February 2007.

BITS Pilani has been certify by the NAAC with a CGPA of 3.71 (out of 4.0) with An evaluation for the period 1 April 2007 to 8 March 2009. This evaluation is substantial until 2014.
