The Department of Radiotherapy of JIPMER was granted Regional Cancer Centre status by the Ministry in 2002.

Oncology ward was established in 2006 at Department of Radiotherapy.

The Department of Medical Oncology was started in 2009, and has been allotted 20 beds.

Surgical Oncology facility, with 20 beds is now under administrative control of the Department of Surgery.

High precision dual energy linear accelerator CLINAC iX with OBI and ECLIPSE version
10.0 TPS capable of 3D-CRT,
Single energy linear accelerator for conventional teletherapy.
Nucletron micro-selectron HDR brachytherapy unit.
Bone marrow transplant facility.
X-Ray simulator.
Brachytherapy done include: intra-cavitory, intra-luminal, interstitial & mould therapy.
Both day care & inpatient chemotherapy.

Charges for Cancer Patient at JIPMER:
General patients:
No charges are levied for outpatient or inpatient investigations and treatment for patients with monthly income less than Rs. 2500.

Cancer patients :
All cancer therapy will be free irrespective of income.

Special Ward Charges:
‘C’ Ward – Basic pay from Rs.2550/- to Rs.5499/-
‘B’ Ward – Basic pay from Rs.5500/- to Rs.7999/-
‘A ‘Ward – Basic pay from Rs.8000/- and above
