CAT Stands for Common Admission Test.

It is Conducted by the six IIMs as a National Level Entrance Test in Selecting Students for their Business Administration Program at the Masters Level .

CAT 2016 Important Dates :

Official date of CAT 2016 exam notification: June 2016

Starting Date of CAT 2016 Registration: August 2016

Admit Card issued Date: October 2016

CAT 2016 Exam Date: November 2016

Date of Result Announcement: December 2016

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates Must Have Graduation Degree in Any Discipline with minimum of 50% Marks or Equivalent CGPA.

Reservation of Seats for CAT 2016

Reservation of seats for SC Candidates: 15%

Reservation of seats for ST candidates: 7.5%

Reservation of seats for OBC: 27%

Reservation of seats for the person with disabilities: 3%

Application Fee :

For General and NC/OBC Category Candidates Registration fee is Rs.1600/

For the SC/ST/Person with Disability application fee is Rs.800/.


CAT 2016 Exam Pattern:

Duration of the examination has been increased to 180 minutes instead of 170 minutes.

There will be three sections :

Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC)’

QA and VRC will have 34 questions each, and DILR will have 32 questions.

The scoring scheme for multiple-choice questions is as follows:

Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.

An incorrect answer fetches -1.

No marks are given or deducted for un-attempted questions.
