The post of Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal is likely to fall vacant in December, 2014.
A Search committee constituted for the purpose shall assist in the selection of a suitable person to hold this position.
Job description
The Vice-Chancellor is the principle executive and academic officer of the University and he exercises general supervision and control over the affairs of the University and gives effect to the decisions of all the authorities of the University.
Skills and competencies
The person is expected to have the following:
a) Outstanding scientific achievement to his/her credit in the field of agriculture.

b) Record of successful administration and management of science preferably of agricultural education/research/extension at a higher level.

c) Modern and forward looking approach with broader scientific perspective particularly in the field of agricultural education and research.

d) Vision and proven leadership qualities to communicate and inspire loyalty of academic, research and administrative staff.

e) Initiative and innovative abilities.

f) Experience of interaction with other academic and research organizations.


Educational qualification & experience
i) The person is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in agricultural and allied sciences.

ii) An eminent scientist/teacher having at least 21 years’ experience in the field of agricultural research/education, out of which at least 3 years’ experience should be in the research management position.

iii) Evidence of contributions to research/teaching/extension education as supported by published work/innovations and demonstrated leadership.

Term of office :
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office, or until he attains the age of seventy years whichever is earlier, and he shall be eligible for reappointment for a further term of five years, or until he attains the age of seventy years whichever is earlier.
Emoluments
The post carries emoluments and perks & privileges as admissible to Vice-Chancellor of a Central University.
