Don’t worry I will let you know about the attempts and details of IAS exam, so that you can go through it easily. Attempts of IAS exam The number of attempts for IAS exam: General Category: 6 attempts till 32 years of age. The number of attempts for IAS exam: OBC: 9 attempts till 35 years of age. The number of attempts for IAS exam: SC/ST: unlimited attempts till 37 years of age. Eligibility Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India. Educational Qualification: Candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree from any of the recognised universities Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results or those who are yet to appear for the qualifying examination are also eligible for the Preliminary Examination. Such candidates have to produce proof of passing the said examination along with the application for the Main Examination. Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognised by the Government or its equivalent are also elgible to apply Candidates who have passed the final year of MBBS or any Medical Examination but are yet to complete the internship can also appear for the Main Examination. However, they must submit a certificate from the concerned University that they have passed the final professional medical examination. Age Limit : A candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years Exam pattern The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of objective type (multiple-choice questions) carrying a maximum of 400 marks. The Question Papers (Test Booklets) are set in English & Hindi General Studies Paper – I 200 Marks General Studies Paper – II 200 Marks Syllabus for Paper I – (200 marks) Duration: Two hours (Counted for the merit rank in the Prelims) Current events of national and international importance. History of India and Indian National Movement. Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization. General Science. UPSC Prelims Syllabus for Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours (Not counted for the merit rank in Prelims but a qualifying Paper; just needs 33% marks) Comprehension. Interpersonal skills including communication skills. Logical reasoning and analytical ability. Decision-making and problem-solving. General mental ability.
