Re: Common Entrance Exam Buckinghamshire
As you live in Buckinghamshire, here I will gather information of Buckinghamshire 11 Plus entrance exam, so that you can have idea about it. Test dates (Tentative) Closing dates Last week June 2018 Open 2nd week May 2018 Registration is required for all children attending Partner Schools and out of county schools). Children attending Bucks state schools do not need to register. Parents can notify their child’s headteacher if they do not wish their child to take the test Test dates Thursday 2nd week September 2018 Preparation Test: Tuesday 2nd week September 2018 (2 preparation tests lasting 25-30 minutes each, containing questions that mirror the exam. These papers will not be marked, but are designed to help them prepare for exam) Type of test Two multiple choice tests, 45-50 minutes each which is split up into smaller timed sections. Each paper will test: Verbal ability (tests vocabulary, comprehension, verbal reasoning) Numerical reasoning (tests the ability to solve mathematical problems) Non-verbal reasoning (tests the ability to see how objects relate to each other) Passing criteria In standardised score of 121 or more was set by CEM in agreement with the grammar schools. A pupil’s score on all 6 sections of the two tests are added together and the total score is then age standardised . The score will be the sum of: 50% of the standardised score of the verbal sections 30% of the standardised score of the numerical sections 20% of the standardised score of the non-verbal sections The current process produces standardised scores of between 0 and 199. Around 30% achieve the qualifying score of 121. For children who do not attain a score of 121 or more, can ask for a Selection Review. A Selection Review is an opportunity for your to explain in writing to a panel of Headteachers why your child is suited to a grammar school.
