Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)

Is Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) a centralized test for admission to prominent National Law Universities in India for both UG and PG courses in Law? Provide me CLAT exam details, eligibility, syllabus, exam question paper for preparation?

Common Law Admission Test CLAT 2017 is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Chankya National Law University, Patna for admission in Integrated L.L.B and L.L.M courses offered by 18 National Law Universities of India.

CLAT 2017 Important Dates

Date of Issue of First Admission Notification 31st December 2016
Online application Start Date 1st January 2017
Last date for submission of filled-in online application form 31st March 2017
Availability of Admit Card 20th April 2017
Date of Entrance Exam 14th May 2017 (3:00 PM to 5:00 PM)
Uploading of Answer Key 16th May 2017
Representation, if any, relating to exam, questions or key 17th – 19th May 2017
Date for uploading the amended answer key (if required) 25th May 2017
Result & merit list release 29th May 2017
Release of first indicative seat allocation list 5th June 2017
Counselling fee payment & exercising options 6th – 8th June 2017
Release of second allotment list 12th June 2017
Counselling fee payment & exercising options 13th – 14th June 2017
Release of third allotment list 19th June 2017
Counselling fee payment & exercising options 20th – 21st June 2017
Last Date for withdrawal from the Admission Process 21st June 2017
Release of fourth allotment list 24th June 2017
Payment of full fees by 4th seat allotment candidates & completion of admission formalities 28th – 30th June 2017
Receiving status of admissions from the participating
NLU (s) in the CLAT office 4th July 2017
Closer of admission process 6th July 2017

CLAT Eligibility Criteria


For UG Programmes:

10+2 or equivalent examination with the minimum 45% marks (in case of Unreserved/OBC/SAP categories) and 40% marks (in case of SC/ST category).

Appearing candidates of Class 10+2 or equivalent examination can also apply

The upper age limit is 20 years and 22 years for reserved categories

For PG Programmes:

LL.B or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks (Unreserved/OBC/SAP categories) and 50% marks (SC/ST category).

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also apply

There is no upper age limit for PG courses.

Application Fee

Candidates those belong to the UR/OBC/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category, have to submit Rs. 4,000/- as an application fee.

SC/ST candidates have to pay Rs. 3,500/- only.

The application fee can be deposited either through Online or e-Challan. Additional bank charges may apply for the above transactions.

The application fee is non-refundable in any circumstances.
