The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India's focal office approved to lead the Civil Services Examination, Engineering Services Examination, Combined Medical Services Examination, Combined Defense Services Examination, National Defense Academy Examination, Naval Academy Examination, Special Class Railway Apprentice, Indian Forest Service examination, Indian Economic Service examination, Indian Statistical Service examination, Combined Geoscientist and Geologist Examination, and Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandant) examination.

Functions

Under Article 320 of the Constitution of India, the Commission is, between alia, required to be counseled on all matters identifying with enrollment to common administrations and posts. The elements of the Commission under Article 320 of the Constitution are:

Lead examinations for arrangement to the administrations of the Union.

Coordinate enrollment by determination through meetings.

Arrangement of officers on advancement/assignment/retention.

Confining and change of Recruitment Rules for different administrations and posts under the Government.

Disciplinary cases identifying with various Civil Services.

Prompting the Government on any matter alluded to the Commission by the President of India.
