The Bangalore Centre of Indian Statistical Institute ISI started with a Statistical Quality Control and Operations Research (SQC&OR) unit in 1954.

Courses Offered

B.Math (hons.)

The total duration of the B.Math.(Hons.) programme is three years.

The B.Math.(Hons.) degree programme offers comprehensive instruction in basic mathematics along with rudimentary courses in probability, Statistics, Computing and Physics.

It is so designed that on successful completion, the students would be able to pursue higher studies in the areas of Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematical Physics or take up a career in applications of Mathematics.

M.Math

The total duration of the M. Math. Programme is two years.

The M. Math. Programme offers advanced level training in Mathematics.

M.S. (LIS)

This is an advanced programme in Library and Information Science with special emphasis on ‎applications of Information Technology.

M.S. (QMS)

This is a two-year programme in Quality Management and its applications with a special emphasis on Quantitative Methods.

It also includes Dissertation in the third semester and a live Project work in the fourth semester under the direct guidance of the faculty.

The course offers a flexible format for those who want to meet specific educational and career objectives.

Ph.D. Program

The centre runs doctoral programs in

Computer Science at System Science and Informatics Unit.

Development Studies at the Economic Analysis Unit (EAU).

Library and Information Science at Documentation Research and Training Centre.

Mathematics and Statistics at the Statistics and Mathematics Unit.

Part-time Courses

The course is held twice a year: sessions starting in January and July.

Classes are scheduled on Saturday/Sundays and runs spanning a period of around 9 months.

This course is intended to provide intensive training in the theory and practice of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) to working executives.

Emphasis is on equipping the students with the basic practical skills in SQC approach with sufficient theory to understand the principles involved and to develop in them the power of systematic thinking, practical approach and exposition.
