CSIR-UGC NET Exam for Science Stream is Conducted by CSIR in the following Areas:

1. Chemical Sciences

2. Earth Sciences

3. Life Sciences

4. Mathematical Sciences

5. Physical Sciences

The Pattern for the Single Paper MCQ test

The MCQ test paper of each subject shall carry a maximum of 200 marks.

The exam shall be for duration of three hours.

The question paper shall be divided in three parts

Syllabus of Examination-

The question paper will be divided into 3 parts
Part-A,
Part B and
Part C.

Part-A:

Part-A of the question paper will be common for all subjects including Engineering Sciences).

The questions will be asked from General Aptitude with prominence on
• graphical analysis,
• logical reasoning,
• quantitative comparison,
• analytical and
• numerical ability,
• puzzles,
• Series formation,


Part-B:

This question paper will be different for Engineering Sciences and all other subjects. Engineering Sciences syllabus will include questions from

• Mathematics &
• Engineering Aptitude

Fort all other subjects the questions will be asked from subjects covering all the topics in the syllabus.

Part-C:

This step of question paper questions will be asked from subjects covering all the topics in the syllabus in case of Engineering Sciences.

For all other subjects questions will be asked from higher value questions which will focus on applicants’ knowledge of scientific concepts and / or application of the scientific concepts.
