Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is a self-governing zenith statutory body which controls and builds up the protection business in India. It was constituted by a Parliament of India act called Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 and properly went by the Government of India.

The office works from its home office at Hyderabad, Telangana where it moved from Delhi in 2001
