Cochin University of Science and Technology is a government-owned autonomous science and technology university in Cochin, Kerala, India.

Founded in 1971, it has three campuses: two in Cochin and one in Kuttanad, Alappuzha, 66 km inland

CUSAT was the first University in the Country to start a full-fledged post graduate programme in Marine Geology in the year 1976,


The School has expertise in fishery biology, aquaculture, fishing technology, fish processing, and fisheries economics and management.

Members of the faculty have participated in several international symposia and workshops held in Malaysia, SriLanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Indonesia.

The School actively offers consultancy services to private industrialists, Government and International Development agencies.

The director of the School is a member of the scientific panel for fisheries of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India, Fisheries
