Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts a National Entrance Test (NET) exam known as TISSNET.

The exam is conducted for all Masters programmes offered in TISS campuses at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Hyderabad, Guwahati, IMHST Chennai, MHAT Calicut and G-SET Ranchi.

TISSNET Pattern:

Section I: Data Interpretation

There were 4 sets with 5 questions each. All were table-based sets. The set on Student Expenditure ( rural & urban ) was fairly simple and had easy questions. The set based on World Population was simple but calculation intensive. Students who are good at Speed Maths would stand to have an advantage.

A good number of Correct Attempts (questions): 12-14 questions

Section II: Data Sufficiency

The DS questions had 5 choices instead of 4 choices for all other questions in the paper. This introduced an additional level of difficulty for students. The questions based on PPL (Percentages, Profit & Loss) and Averages were easy to solve. Questions requires a sound understanding of basic concepts of Quant topics, especially Arithmetic.

A good number of Correct Attempts (questions): 6-7 questions

Section III: Reading Comprehension

There were 3 passages. Two passages had 5 questions each and the third passage had 9 questions. All the passages had an underlying HR theme. The passage of 9 questions was based on the theme of “Motivation of employees” and required careful reading and had a mix of direct and inference based questions.

A good number of Correct Attempts (questions): 10-12 questions

Section IV: Business Knowledge

Questions were based on a variety of areas like Foreign Trade, Global Economy, Brand & Punchlines, Current Affairs related to the field of Business
