GTU - Gujarat Technological University is located in Ahmedabad and offers many UG and PG level courses to eligible students.

The university offers Bachelor of Engineering courses in various streams. As to be eligible for join a Bachelors course in the GTU candidates need to have +2 or its equivalent qualification. This is a 4 year long course and the candidates will also have to qualify in the entrance exam. The GTU Entrance test is the GCET which is held every year.

GCET stands for Gujarat Common Entrance Test which is conducted for students who are willing to take up admissions to the following courses
Engineering,
Medical,
Diploma And
Pharmacy Courses.

The conducting body of this examination is “Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board (GSHEB)” in collaboration with “Government of Gujarat”.

GCET Eligibility Criteria:
-You must be Indian national
-Your age should be between 17 to 25 years.
-You must have passed 10+2 with PCMB stream ( i.e Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) from any higher secondary school that must be approved by the government of Gujarat.
-The qualifying marks for general category students are 50% aggregate.
-The qualifying marks for SC/ST students category students is 40% aggregate.

GCET Exam Pattern:
-The medium of answering is only English.
-You have questions from 4 different streams namely
Part I hysics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III: Mathematics
Part IV: Biology

-The total number of questions asked is 160.
-You will have to answer 40 questions in each part.
-You will be given 1 hour for each subject / part to answer 40 questions.
-The questions are expected to be picked from XI, XII syllabus (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics).

Part II – Chemistry 40 Questions
Part III – Mathematics 40 Questions
Part IV – Biology 40 Questions

-You will get one mark for every correct answer.
-There is no negative marking.

GCET 2014 Important Dates:
Date of Examination: 8.5.2014 (Tentative).
Online registration will start from 31.3.2014.
Deadline to apply for this examination: 15.4.2014.
