Re: Deskjet vs inkjet

Printer is a machine which produces data from a particular system (usually computers) in printed form. Inkjet and Deskjet are two of the most commonly used printers today.

About the Inkjet printer

Inkjet printers create digital images on paper with the use of droplets of varying sizes.

The dots that appear on the paper printed using inkjet printers are minute (usually, fifty to sixty microns in diameter).

The resolutions offered by these printers extend to 1440X720 dpi (dots per inch).

About the Deskjet

Deskjet, on the other hand, is a brand name given to inkjet printers that are designed by HP (Hewlett-Packard).

These models are available in a variety of sizes ranging from compact domestic printers to larger ones for frequent and regular use.

Deskjet printers have the ability to print almost three pages in a minute.

Although Deskjet printers are HP’s version of regular inkjet printers, they are quite different in terms of their print heads.

The print heads used in Deskjet printers are disposable and inexpensive.

They are built into the cartridge and deliver a much higher print quality as compared to inkjet printers because the head and the ink are replaced frequently in the latter.

Quality of ink used

"Jets" – components similar to small nozzles are used to deploy ink in inkjet printers.

The printer works by spraying ionized ink on paper. The ink is then directed through magnetized plates that are placed under the paper, creating printed images or text.

Inkjet printers are cheaper than Deskjets.

However, the quality of ink used in inkjet printers is not as good in comparison with that used by Deskjets.

Although inkjet printers are cheaper than Deskjets, the ink used in the former is more expensive than that used in the latter.

The cartridges will have to be replaced frequently when you print several papers or pictures.

The cartridges in Deskjet can be used for a long time.

Resolution of the printers

The resolutions of inkjet printers vary from 1200 X 1200 DPI to 4800 X 1200 DPI, while Deskjets offer resolutions from 600 X 600 DPI to 2400 X 2400 DPI.

Inkjet printers are faster when compared to Deskjets, and the standard images printed on the former have a resolution of around 300 X 300 DPI.
