Re: Different Posts In Indian Navy

The ranks of the Indian Navy are divided into two major parts. They are
Commissioned Officers
Junior Commissioned Officers

These are the ranks of the Commissioned Officers in Indian Navy in descending order based on their power.

The officer ranks of Indian Navy by and large match with those of Western militaries and are replicas of British military ranks.
Admiral of the fleet
Admiral
Vice Admiral
Rear Admiral
Commodore
Captain - Navy
Commander
Lieutenant Commander
Lieutenant
Sub Lieutenant

The rank of midshipman is also present in the navy. Cadets before they become commissioned officers become midsipmen. The midshipman is a subordinate officer. You can consider him to be a junior officer.

Junior Commissioned Officers
Master Chief Petty Officer (1st Class)
Master Chief Petty Officer (2nd Class)
Chief Petty Officer

Non Commissioned Officers
Petty Officer
Leading Seaman
Seaman 1
Seaman 2
