About DRDO
Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) works under Department of Defence Research and Development of Ministry of Defence.
DRDO dedicatedly working towards enhancing self-reliance in Defence Systems and undertakes design & development leading to production of world class weapon systems and equipment in accordance with the expressed needs and the qualitative requirements laid down by the three services.

DRDO Awards
The DRDO Awards Scheme, in its present form, was introduced in the year 1999 to motivate DRDO scientists, engineers and our partners in industries and academic institutions in contributing for the cause of our national security and self-reliance.
The present Award Scheme, instituted by the Government of India, are therefore, meant to encourage DRDO scientists and our partners in the Private Sector Undertakings (PSUs), the private firms as well as the academic institutions

DRDO young scientist award
Shri Lokesh Saini, Sc D, Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur, has been conferred DRDO Young Scientist Award–2014 on 23 September 2015 by Dr S Christopher, Secretary Department of Defence R&D and DG DRDO for his significant contributions in the Development of Radar Absorbing Materials, their composites and final products in the form of sheets/coatings.
One of these materials has been used in the indigenous development of Microwave Absorbing Gasket for Brah Mos missile.
