Re: Eligibility for IIT JEE

IIT JEE exam is a two tier Joint entrance Examination – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is the first stage of the Joint entrance Examination for the engineering undergraduate admissions to the NITS and Centrally funded institutes as well as a number of leading private universities and institutes.

JEE Main 2014 Eligibility

DATE OF BIRTH
General Candidates Born or after October 01, 1989 Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates - Born or after October 01, 1984

YEAR OF APPEARANCE IN QUALIFYING EXAMINATION (QE)
-Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2012 or 2013;
Or
-Those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2014 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2014.

-Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2011 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2015 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2014.

NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS-
The number of attempts at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three)

NO. OF ATTEMPTS AND AGE LIMIT FOR THE STATES OF MAHARASHTRA AND ODISHA
The age limit, for admission to institutions in these states which were earlier admitting candidates based on their state level examinations, will be as per their past practice only

Eligibility For JEE ADVANCED 2014

Qualifying candidates in Paper - I of JEE (Main) will be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced)

Age Limit:
-Candidates of GE and OBC categories must have been born on or after October 01, 1989
-Those of SC, ST and PwD categories must have been born on or after October 01, 1984.

Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination (QE) for JEE (Advanced) 2014

Admission to the 16 IITs and ISM Dhanbad will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced) - 2014 under the condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile of successful candidates of their respective Boards (or equivalent examination) in their respective categories.

Number of attempts at JEE (Advanced) - 2014
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum twice in consecutive years
