Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) Advanced 2017 eligibility is proposed by the IITs, ISM and the respective authority. It is a national level entrance test organized by IITs under the supervision of the Joint Admission Board.

JEE Advanced 2017 exam is conducted for providing admission to students in UG, PG and other courses in engineering, architecture, science or pharmaceutical offered by IITs and ISM.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2017:

Criterion 1 – Performance in JEE Main 2017

• One must be among the top 2, 20,000 (including all categories) by scoring positive marks in JEE Main 2017 Paper I.
• The percentages of different categories are 50.5% (open for all), 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. Within each of the aforesaid 4 categories, 3% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates, including Dyslexic ones.
• While choosing top 2, 20,000 candidates in various categories (who have scored positive marks in JEE Main 2017), usual order will be followed.

Criterion 2 – Age limit
• One must be born on or after October 1, 1992.
• One belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories will get 5 years relaxation, thus, they should have been born on or after October 1, 1987.

Criterion 3 – Number of attempts
For JEE Advanced one can take the entrance exam a maximum of 2 times in consecutive years. Therefore, one who had appeared in JEE Advanced 2016 for the first time are also eligible to take JEE Advanced 2017.

Criterion 4 – Appearance in class XII or equivalent exam
• One needs to have studied in 12th class or equivalent exam for the first time in either 2016 or 2017.
• However, one whose result of class XII or equivalent test for 2014-15 was announced after June 2015 are eligible to take JEE Advanced 2017.

Criterion 5 – Earlier admission at IITs
• One earlier admitted to any of the IITs, despite whether they had continued the programme or not or accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past, are not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017. Candidates with cancelled admission to IITs in the past are also not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017.
• One, who had taken admission in preparatory courses in any of the IITs for the first time in the year 2016, are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017.
• Desirous students who have paid seat acceptance fee but had not accepted the seat (by not reporting at any reporting centre in JoSAA 2016) will also be considered eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017.
