Re: Eligibility For Pilot In Indian Navy

As per your concern I will tell you eligibility criteria to apply for Indian Navy SSC Pilot Observer post so that you can remember easily.

Eligibility
Age Limit:

(a) General Candidates -> 19 Minimum to 24 MaximumYears
(b) CPL Holders -> 19 Minimum to 25 MaximumYears

Educational Qualification:
(1) BE/ B.Tech in any discipline with Physics and Maths at 12th Standard. Minimum percentage in BE/B.Tech for Pilot entry is 60% and for Observer entry 55%.

(2) CPL candidate must have valid and current CPL issued by DGCA (India).

Physical Standards:
(a) Height and Weight -> Minimum height for men 162.5 cms and for women 152 cms with correlated weight, leg length, sitting height and thigh length.

(b) Eye Sight -> The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/6,6/ 9 correctable to 6/6,6/6. Should not be colour blind/night blind.

(c) Tattoo -> Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist end or on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection.

Duties of Pilot Officer

Wings will be awarded to Pilots on completing their basic flying training and Commission.

They will Fly Fixed Wing Aircraft or Helicopters which could be from an aircraft carrier, other ship decks or an airfield.

They will actively participate in all facets of Navel.

Duties of Observer Officer

Observer officers will be a part of Naval Aviation Arm.

They will be airborne tacticians and will operate modern equipment like Sonar, Radar, communication and Electronic Warfare Equipment.

They will be responsible for launching airborne weapons.

They will actively participate in all facets of Navel.

Pay and Promotions
Pay Scale:
Rs.15600 –39,100 alongwith Rs.5400 Grade Pay+ Flying Allowance Instructional Allowance and other liberal allowances will be admissible.

Promotion:
Promotion can be done up to the rank of Commander with pay scale Rs.37,400-67,000 + Grade pay of Rs.8000.
Promotion to the officer cadre is subject to suitability and performance.
