Mahamaya Technical University (MTU), was established on 1 May, 2010 on the bifurcation of the former Uttar Pradesh Technical University.
The university affiliates the colleges lying in the Meerut, Saharanpur, Agra, Aligarh and Moradabad regions from the academic year 2012-13 onwards.
By the way, none of the government funded engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh lie in this region.
Now, the Mahamaya Technical university is known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University.
