The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is a statutory agency of the Government of Malaysia, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

It promotes sustainable management and optimal use of forest resources in Malaysia by generating knowledge and technology through research, development and application in tropical forestry.

Objectives

Produce scientific knowledge for the understanding, management, conservation and use of forest resources; research and development;

Learn biodiversity to produce useful products through intensive research and development;

Expand related technology to fulfill the needs of the forestry industry;

Packaging research and development findings for dissemination to clients;

Commercializing research and development findings through technology transfer to all interested parties;

Providing service to fulfill client needs;

Generate strategic co-operation with local and international agencies;

Raising public awareness regarding the importance of the environment and the conservation of forest biodiversity
