Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology including IIT Bombay: Key dates Notification June 19, 2016 Commencement of form submission September 1, 2016 Last date of Online Application October 4, 2016 Last Date for Request for Change in the Choice of Examination City via GOAPS login November 16, 2016 Availability of GATE 2017 admit card January 5, 2017 GATE 2017 Exam Dates February 4, 2017; February 5, 2017; February 11, 2017; February 12, 2017; Declaration of GATE Result 2017 March 27, 2017 Facility to download GATE Score Card begins on March 2017 Last date to download score card will be announced Eligibility Students must have: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma in Engineering / Technology) and those who are in final year of such programs. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (5 years course) and those who are in final year of such programs. Bachelor’s degree of four year program in science (B.S.) and those who are in final year of such programs. Master’s degree in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in final year of such programs. Exam Pattern The complete syllabus of GATE 2017 is given on the official website launched by IIT Roorkee, GATE 2017 Official Website. Details of exam pattern and syllabus of GATE 2017 is also given here for your reference. All the papers have General Aptitude questions, of the following type. 5 Questions of 1 mark each. 5 Questions of 2 marks each. Total marks for GA is 15. GATE 2017 exam pattern of all papers except GG, XE, XL. These papers will have GA + the following questions. 25 Questions of 1 mark each. 30 Questions of 2 marks each. Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type. Exam pattern for GATE This paper will have GA + the following questions. Part A – Common for all candidates – 25 questions of 1 mark each. Part B – Separate for Geology and Geo physics candidates – 30 questions of 2 marks each. Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type. Exam pattern for GATE 2017 XE (Engineering Sciences) This paper will have GA + the following questions. Section A – Common for all candidates – 7 questions of 1 mark each and 4 questions of 2 marks each. Section B to G – 9 questions of 1 mark each and 13 questions of 2 marks each. Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type. Exam pattern for GATE 2017 XL (Life Sciences) This paper will have GA + the following questions. Section H Chemistry – Common for all candidates – 5 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks each. Section I to M – 10 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks each. Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type. |
