Eligibility
Students must have:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma in Engineering / Technology) and those who are in final year of such programs.

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (5 years course) and those who are in final year of such programs.

Bachelor’s degree of four year program in science (B.S.) and those who are in final year of such programs.

Master’s degree in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in final year of such programs.

Exam Pattern

All the papers have General Aptitude questions, of the following type.
5 Questions of 1 mark each.
5 Questions of 2 marks each.
Total marks for GA is 15.

GATE 2017 exam pattern of all papers except GG, XE, XL.

These papers will have GA + the following questions.
25 Questions of 1 mark each.
30 Questions of 2 marks each.
Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type.

Exam pattern for GATE

This paper will have GA + the following questions.
Part A – Common for all candidates – 25 questions of 1 mark each.
Part B – Separate for Geology and Geo physics candidates – 30 questions of 2 marks each.
Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type.

Exam pattern for GATE 2017 XE (Engineering Sciences)

This paper will have GA + the following questions.
Section A – Common for all candidates – 7 questions of 1 mark each and 4 questions of 2 marks each.
Section B to G – 9 questions of 1 mark each and 13 questions of 2 marks each.
Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type.

Exam pattern for GATE 2017 XL (Life Sciences)

This paper will have GA + the following questions.
Section H Chemistry – Common for all candidates – 5 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks each.
Section I to M – 10 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks each.
Questions will be MCQ and Numerical answer type.
