GATE Pattern Change
Will you please give me idea for the new pattern of GATE Exam???????? As per your request here I am sharing the new pattern of GATE Exam GATE Exam New Pattern: -GATE will be held for 22 papers -Candidates can apply for one paper only and therefore are advised to choose a paper corresponding to the discipline of the qualifying degree. -There will be two types of questions in all GATE Papers – multiple choice and numerical type - GATE Exam Paper will be for 3 hours of duration with 65 questions for 100 marks -Online Computer Based Test -A single paper with 65 total questions -Maximum marks are 100 -Questions will be multiple choice as well as numerical type -10 questions will be on General Aptitude carrying 15 marks GATE Disciplines: Aerospace Engineering Agricultural Engineering Architecture and Planning Biotechnology Civil Engineering Chemical Engineering Computer Science and Information Technology Chemistry Electronics and Communication Engineering Electrical Engineering Geology and Geophysics Instrumentation Engineering Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Mining Engineering Metallurgical Engineering Physics Production and Industrial Engineering Textile Engineering and Fibre Science Engineering Sciences Life Sciences Ecology and Evolution GATE General Aptitude Questions: Apart from the core subject questions, all papers will contain a few questions that test the General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills of the candidates. GATE Exam Pattern for XE : Section A: Engineering Mathematics (compulsory) GA – General Aptitude (compulsory) Any two of XE sections GATE Exam Pattern for XL: Chemistry (compulsory) GA – General Aptitude (compulsory) Any two of XL sections GATE 2014 Marking Scheme: Negative marking is prevalent for the exam as follows: For 1-mark multiple-choice questions: deduction of 1/3 marks for a wrong answer For 2-marks multiple-choice questions: 2/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. For Numerical answer type questions: No Negative Marking GA section has 5 questions of 1 mark each: 5 marks 5 questions for 2 marks each: 10 marks For General Aptitude (GA) Questions: Total Marks: 15 GA section has 5 questions of 1 mark each: 5 marks 5 questions for 2 marks each: 10 marks For Question Papers other than GG, XE and X: 25 questions of 1 mark each: 25 marks 30 questions of 2 marks each: 60 marks For GG (Geology and Geophysics) Paper: In addition to the General Aptitude (GA) section, there are two parts as follows Part A (common to all candidates) with 25 questions of 1 mark each: 25 Marks Part B: consists of two sections- Section 1 (Geology) and Section 2 (Geo-physics). Candidates can attempt any one section Each section with 30 questions of 2 marks each: 60 marks For XE Paper (Engineering Sciences): -Section A is compulsory with 11 questions: 15 marks as follows 7 questions of 1 mark each: 7 marks 4 questions of 2 marks each: 8 marks -Section (B through G) with 22 questions: 35 marks as follows 9 questions of 1 mark each: 9 marks 13 questions of 2 marks each: 26 marks Chemistry Section is compulsory with 15 questions: 25 marks as follows 5 questions of 1 mark each: 5 marks 10questions of 2 marks each: 10 marks -Section (I through M) with 20 questions: 30 marks as follows 10 questions of 1 mark each: 10 marks 10 questions of 2 marks each: 206 marks For XL Paper (Life Sciences) -Chemistry Section is compulsory with 15 questions: 25 marks as follows 5 questions of 1 mark each: 5 marks 10questions of 2 marks each: 10 marks -Section (I through M) with 20 questions: 30 marks as follows -10 questions of 1 mark each: 10 marks -10 questions of 2 marks each: 206 marks Last edited by Neelurk; May 19th, 2020 at 09:19 AM. |
