Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is being conducted in following disciplines: Aerospace Engineering Agricultural Engineering Architecture and Planning Biotechnology Civil Engineering Chemical Engineering Computer Science and Information Technology Chemistry Electronics and Communication Engineering Electrical Engineering Ecology and Evolution Geology and Geophysics Instrumentation Engineering Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Mining Engineering Metallurgical Engineering Physics Production and Industrial Engineering Textile Engineering and Fibre Science Engineering Sciences Life Sciences XE Paper Sections Engineering Mathematics (Compulsory) Fluid Mechanics Materials Science Solid Mechanics Thermodynamics Polymer Science and Engineering Food Technology XL Paper Sections Chemistry (Compulsory) Biochemistry Botany Microbiology Zoology Food Technology All the paper has General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills), apart from the core subject of the paper. XE Paper Student appearing in the XE paper has to answer the following Section A – Engineering Mathematics (compulsory) GA – General Aptitude (compulsory) Any two of XE sections B to G XL Paper Student appearing in the XL paper has to answer the following Section H – Chemistry (compulsory) GA – General Aptitude (compulsory) Any two of XL sections I to M It consists of a single paper of 3-hour duration that contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. |
