l.What does DMA stand for?Assume that a processor receives an

b.Explain the purpose of the following pins of 8085

(i)READY (ii) HOLD (iii) IO/M (iv)ALE (v) S0,S1

c. Write an assembly language program for 8085 to determine the number of negative elements in a block of data. The length of the block is in memory location 8041H and the block itself starts in memory location 8042H.



7 a.Discuss the different methods of data transfer between the CPU and I/O Devices.

b.What is an interrupt?How is it generated?How are interrupts serviced by CPU?


8 a.Explain the need for memory hierarchy.Explain associative memory and cache memory concepts in detail.

b.Distinguish between virtual memory and main memory.Write the merits of virtual memory.
