Re: GPA Needed Top MBA

GPA also called Grade point Average is an important factor when applying to U.S. universities.

You need a GPA of at least 3.0 to 3.3 to get into many of the Masters programs.

To get into top five business school, you need a GPA of at least 3.5.
GPA is just guidelines. Most schools do not have minimum GPA requirements for admission. GPA is just one of the components B-schools look at and there are other parts of the application that are similarly important.

Even if you have a low GPA, it can be compensated by other parts of your application.

If you have low GPA, good GMAT score can compensate for that and it can increase the chances for getting admission in B-schools.

The GMAT helps B-school admissions officers level the frolicking field in terms of equating students. So those with a low GPA should view the GMAT as a chance to increase chances of getting in B-schools.

A GMAT score higher than 700 will take you at that place where GPA won't be an issue in terms of getting into a top school.

680 is still measured as an average score.
While a score of 650 or below is low for a top B-school.
B-schools usually report the 80 percentile middle range of GPA scores.
No top 10 business school in the U.S. has a GPA range of below 3.0.
The typical GPA at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business is 3.7, while the average at Harvard is 3.66.
The highest ranked school is Cornell which admit a student with a grade point average below 3.0.
