Postgraduate Certificate in Education or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education offered by University of Greenwich enable students to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to teach in primary schools, particularly those in the urban inner-city. Entry requirements One should have: • A good honours degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university or an equivalent qualification • AND clear written and spoken English • PLUS grade C at GCSE in English language, mathematics and science prior to application. In addition candidates: • Will be required to provide recent evidence of working with/observing children in an educational setting • Demonstrate interest, experience, skills and commitment related to teaching • Pass Professional Skills tests in numeric and literacy before beginning the programme • Undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check and an occupational health screening. Course Structure Students are required to study the following compulsory courses. • Primary Professional Enhancement (15 credits) • The Child, the School and the Community (15 credits) • Initial School Experience (15 credits) • Final School Experience (30 credits) • Children's Learning and Development (30 credits) • Creativity in Learning and Teaching (Inspiration, Motivation and Challenge) (30 credits) • Professional Development (15 credits) |
