Re: GRE and TOEFL Preparation
Get yourself acquainted with the pattern of the examination. For example: number of sections, total points awarded per answer, different kind of questions, time limit, number of sub-sections etc. Scout around for available guides for the GRE. I used the ETS official guide for instance. It tells you what the GRE is all about and from the horse's mouth so you know what you can expect when you are appearing for the test. There is No Rule for the Quant's Section. Practice Maths for 6 months on a Regular Basis. Practice all the sums at Least 2 times from the list of books and DVDs that I gave you above. In addition to the above there are also many other guides available for the GRE on the internet and in physical form too. You could either buy them yourself or borrow copies from friends and work on the exercises provided. Remember you will be Writing 2 Essays. And this is Where Making Sense will Gain Precedence over how Many Words you Know Practice Writing Essays and Get them Critiqued From Someone Senior (and English Professor from College for Example) and Get their feedback on how to improve on your writing skills. The GRE Verbal Reasoning Section is a lot like TOEFL Reading. Both exams test reading skills in similar ways, with similar question types. In Both Sections, you are asked to understand basic information, make inferences, paraphrase, summarize, recognize new vocabulary words, and so on. There is one big difference between GRE Verbal Reasoning and TOEFL Reading. The GRE Tests Vocabulary at a Much Higher Level You will still Need the Simpler Vocabulary of the TOEFL to Understand Reading Passages on the GRE. Because of this, it’s useful to study TOEFL vocabulary and GRE vocabulary together. You can make word lists that combine words from both exams. You can also study words from both tests using the same methods: flash cards, mnemonics, and so on. |
