NIIT Limited was established in 1981 which provides training for individuals, enterprises, schools and colleges. It is a global computer education company listed on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange of India.

In 1982 it has Setup educational centers in Mumbai and Chennai and in 1991 First overseas office in US. In 1993 it became listed company and launched a successful IPO.In 2006-2007 it has acquired UK-based Company ROOM Solution and in 2006 acquired US-based learning solution provider Element K.

In 2001 Microsoft awarded NIIT the "Best Training Company Award" and in 2009 Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy (CSEDS) awarded NIIT Ltd for IT Training Brand in China.
