ICFAI University, Sikkim was established in 1984 as a not-for-profit society with the broad objective of empowering citizens through world class quality education. It announced its arrival into the Indian education fora by innovatively launching the CFA Program in 1985.

The ICFAI University, Sikkim was established under Section 4 (2) of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Sikkim Act 2004 (Act 9 of 2004) passed by Legislative Assembly of Sikkim. It has been notified under Notification No.9/LD/2004 Dated, 15-10-2004.

Recognition

University Grants Commission (UGC): It is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.

Bar Council of India (BCI): The Bar Council of India has granted approval for offering 5 year BBA-LLB (Hons.), B.Com-LLB (Hons.) and 3 year LLB Programs at the University.

Distance Education Council (DEC): It has received the recognition of the Distance Education Council for offering the programs of the University through distance mode.

Its Degrees are Eligible for National and International Tests for Higher Education
Like any UGC recognized Degrees of any University in India, students passing out from The ICFAI University Sikkim are eligible to appear for examinations like GATE, CAT, UPSC, GMAT, GRE, JRF etc.
