If you are looking for to join Indian Forest Services then you need to attempt an entrance exam for Indian Forest Services. The UPSC is conducting an entrance exam for Indian Forest Services.

UPSC announced the official notification was provided on 27th April, 2016 for Indian Forest Service Examination 2016.

The last date to apply for UPSC IFS exam 2016 is 27th May, 2016.

It is combined competitive exam held all over India by Union Public Service Commission during the month of July/August.

UPSC publish its official notification in employment news and on its official website in the month of April.

Important dates:

27th April, 2016 Registration Starts
27th May, 2016 Till 11.59PM Registration Close
26th May, 2016 Application Fee Payment Last Date by Cash
27th May, 2016 Application Fee Payment Last Date Online
7th Aug, 2016 Preliminary Written Exam

Age Limit:
The age limit for Indian Forest Service Exam is 21 to 32 years

The upper age limit relaxation will also be applicable as per the Government reservation rules.

Minimum Education Qualification:
Candidates with graduation/bachelor’s degree are required to apply for UPSC IFS exam.

Candidates must bachelor’s degree must be cleared with one of the subjects named Animal Husbandry, Physics, Statistics and Zoology, Agriculture, Forestry, Engineering etc.

Number of Attempts:

The candidates who belong to general categories only have 6 attempts to apply for IFS exam.

If you belong to OBC category then you can apply only for 9 times.

Paper and selection process:

Indian Forest Service Examination consist of two stages i.e. preliminary and main exam.

Preliminary Examination:
The exam will have two papers, paper having 200 marks each.
The duration of each paper will be of 2 hours.
Extra time of 20 minutes will be available for blind candidates.

Main Examination:
The following papers will be held for the Main IFS Exam.
Paper I -> General English -> 300 marks
Paper II -> General Knowledge -> 300 marks
Paper III, IV, V & VI – Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects
Each subject will have two papers. -> 200 marks each

Interview for Personality Test: 300 marks
