Huawei, the Chinese telecoms group, has launched an operating system designed to work exclusively with internet connected objects from cars to watches to toothbrushes.

About the operating system

Lite OS is part of the group’s strategy to take advantage of the internet of things the smart gadgets designed to connect to each other and share information about their use.

LiteOS" is the "lightest" software of its kind and can be used to power a range of smart devices

Huawei predicts that by 2025 there will be 100 billion internet-connected devices in the world, with 2 million new sensors deployed every hour.

The company also said that the OS would be "opened to all developers" to allow them to quickly create their own smart products

Huawei says LiteOS also supports "zero configuration, auto-discovery, and auto-networking."

Huawei is better known as a supplier of networking equipment.

Its business has been growing with the world’s demand for more Internet access.

The Liteos software can be as small as 10 kilobytes in size,

It is designed to run on minimal power, making it suitable for a wide range of hardware.
