IAS New Pattern
Hi buddy I have applied for IAS exam which held by UPSC, so I am interested in knowing that what will be IAS exam Patten in 2012? From where can I get new IAS exam pattern? IAS (Indian Administrative Services) Examination will be conducted in three phases – Prelims, Mains & Interview by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). IAS Exam Pattern – Preliminary Examination Following are the features of the Preliminary examination: • There would be two compulsory papers in the preliminary examination namely the General Ability test (GAT) and the Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) to test the analytical skills of the candidates. • The papers would be objective in nature with multiple choice questions. The candidates will have to tick one from the 4 options provided there. • There is also a provision of negative marking in this examination. it will be equal to 1/4th of mark allotted to a correct answer. However, there is no negative marking for the question left unanswered. • The questions will be set in both Hindi and English language. However, questions relating to the English Language Comprehension skills of class 10th level will be tested through a passage from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper. IAS Exam Pattern 2017 for the preliminary examination: Check table Serial Number Name of Paper Marks Allotted Paper 1: General Ability Test (GAT) 200 Marks Paper 2: English Language and Aptitude 200 Marks Total 400 Marks IAS Exam Pattern for the Main Examination Following are the main points for the Main Examination and Interview: • There would two types of Papers in the examination: Qualifying Papers and Papers to be counted for Merit formation. • The candidates will have to appear in both the parts. • Failing in the qualifying papers would lead to the canceling of the candidature of the aspirant. • There would be 7 papers in the Main Examination as per the IAS Exam Pattern of 250 marks each. There would be two optional papers which the candidates would have to select. Qualifying Papers • Paper A: (One of the Indian Language to be selected by the candidates from the Language included in the 6th Schedule of the Constitution – 300 Marks. check here the list of the language in the sixth Schedule. • Paper B: English – 300 Marks List of the Optional Subjects for Main Examination: The candidates can choose any one of the following subjects and one literature paper from the language content in the 6th Schedule: 1. Agriculture 2. Anthropology 3. Chemistry 4. Geography 5. History 6. Political Science & International Relations 7. Commerce & Accountancy 8. Economics 9. Management 10. Mathematics 11. Mechanical Engineering 12. Psychology 13. Public Administration 14. Sociology 15. Electrical Engineering 16. Physics 17. Zoology 18. Medical Science 19. Animal Husbandry& Veterinary Science 20.
