At Intelligent Data Analysis Lab IDA@SMU they create novel techniques inspired by knowledge discovery, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics and statistical learning to work with data from various sources.

The lab was created in 2009. It is the successor of SMU's Database Research Group.

IDA@SMU is part of the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering, SMU.

They currently focus on creating novel techniques for knowledge discovery from large scale data streams with applications in storm prediction, security metagenomics, health screening, and recommender systems.
