Re: IISC Distance Education Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science and Automation (CSA), IISc Bangalore was established in 1969 and was originally called the School of Automation till the mid-eighties.

The department has been a pioneering academic centre for higher education, research, and innovation in key areas of computer science.

CSA is recognized as a Centre for Advanced Study by the University Grants Commission and has recently been awarded a FIST (Fund for Infrastructure in Science and Technology) grant by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The Department does not offer Distance Education courses.

Programs offered-


CSA offers two research programs, Ph.D. and MTech (Research), and two course-based MTech programs.

Ph.D.
MTech (Research)
MTech in Computer Science and Engineering
MTech in Systems Engineering jointly offered with the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Their degree programs provide a solid foundation in core and emerging areas of computer science and trains students to become independent researchers.
