There is a direct bus from Central Station to Gandhi Mandapam, IIT, Adyar stations.

Alternatively you can reach Saidapet by taking a Bus bearing No.18 and from there number of buses goes to Adayar and they are 5B, 47, 47A, 47D, 147, 23C etc. You can get down in front of the IIT Main Gate. Or else you can take a bus to Adayar Signal i.e. the bus bearing these numbers 1LSS, 4LSS, 1A,1C,1D,6A will go in that direction. Reach by Train
You can walk down to Park Railway Station which is opposite to the Central Station and take an EMU (local) train to reach Kasturba Nagar (Adayar) or Guindy or Saidapet station and reach the campus from there by the buses mentioned above.
