Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras invites applications for Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) for 2017. The Entrance Examination is conducted for admission to five year Integrated Master of Arts (M.A.) Programmes, commencing in the session 2017-18.

Important Dates for HSEE 2017
Online Application Process (HSEE website) - Starts: 17th December 2016
Payment of Exam Fee through Indian Bank Challan - Starts 17th December 2016
Payment of Exam Fee through Indian Bank Challan - Ends 27th January 2017
Last Date for Submission of Online Application: 27th January 2017
Application Status Check on the Website: 17th February 2017
Admit Card can be downloaded from the HSEE Website by Starts: 14th March 2017
Admit Card can be downloaded from the HSEE Website by Ends: 15th April 2017
Examination Date for HSEE-2017: 16th April 2017
Declaration of Result on HSEE Website: 09th May 2017
Offer Letters to Candidates - Starts: 10th May 2017

Eligibility Criteria

(a) One needs to clear the final exam of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
(b) One needs to clear the Intermediate or 2 year Pre-University Exam conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
(c) One needs to clear the Final exam of 2 year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy; senior secondary school exam conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of 5 subjects
(d) One needs to clear the any Public School, Board or University Exam in India or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
(e) One needs to clear the HSC vocational exam
(f) One needs to clear the General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
(g) One needs to clear the High School Certificate Exam of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) exam outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian
In case the Class XII exam is not a public exam, one must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) exam earlier

Nationality:
One who is not citizens of India at the time of registering for HSEE 2017 (by birth or naturalized) are treated as foreign nationals

Percentage of Marks in QE:
One belonging to the GEN Category & OBC Category must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the QE. Candidates belonging to SC/ST & PwD Categories must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the QE

Date of Birth:
One, whose date of birth falls on or after 01st October 1992, is eligible for HSEE-2017; however, in the case of SC/ST & PwD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e., candidates belonging to these categories/sub-categories born on or after 01st October 1987 are eligible

Physical Fitness:
One needs to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available along with the letter of offer of admission
