The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB or IIT Bombay) is a public engineering and research institution in India which was founded in 1958. It has a comprehensive graduate program offering doctoral degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Facilities at IIT Bombay It has two swimming pools; football, hockey and cricket grounds; and tennis, basketball, squash and volleyball courts. It also has a Students' Activity Center (SAC) for various cultural and other extracurricular activities. All students and most faculties live on campus, in student hostels and IIT staff quarters. The peaceful atmosphere of the campus belies the wide range of activities that complement academic life. Ranking Internationally, it is ranked overall 202 globally and 35th among Asian institutes in the QS World University Rankings for 2015. It featured in top 400 in the ranking by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2015-16. In India, among engineering colleges, it was ranked second by Outlook India in 2015. Among universities in India, it ranks second in Careers360 Top Universities in India 2016. Amongst government engineering colleges, it was first by Mint in 2009. It is ranked 2 in National Institutional Ranking Framework published by Ministry of Human Resource Development in April 2016. |
