I want to get the details of Yoga at Indian Institute of Technology IIT Roorkee so can you provide me?

Yoga is the way to develop values and self-discipline in a person. To combine these with technical brains, it was started in 1971 at IIT Roorkee.

Yoga Bhawan is situated near Saraswati Temple which makes it atmosphere more peaceful and pleasant for yogic exercises.

Every year more than 150 undergraduate students opt yoga as proficiency.

Post graduates and Research Scholars also come to take advantages of yoga at their own interest.

Every year 4 yoga camps are run in which faculty members as well as other staff member also get advantages.

For efficient functioning it is structured as follows:

* Staff Advisor: He is patron of Yoga Bhawan and acts as interface between administration and proficiency holders.

* Yoga instructor: He teaches various yogic exercises, Aasans, meditation and relaxation techniques to yoga members.

* Secretary: He is generally 4th year student who serves as student representative. He is also skipper of Yoga Institute Team.

* Joint Secretary: He is generally 3rd year student and assists the Secretary in his work.

Every year two Yoga Competitions named Individual Yoga Competition & Inter Bhawan Yoga Competition are held.

Individual Yoga Competition generally helds in November and is basis to constitute Institute Yoga Team having 10 members.

In Inter Bhawan Yoga Competition team of each bhawan with 5 member participate. It is generally held in March-April.

Yoga members never forget to pay tribute to Swami Vivekananda as Mahayogi on occasion of Youth Day.
