Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, IIT-Kanpur and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore will cooperate with the University of Melbourne to offer another joint PhD grant program from 2014.

The Melbourne-India Postgraduate Program will give Aus$3 million as grant to 16 PhD researchers and related backing for examination trades throughout the following three years.

The programme will be open to PhD students enrolled at the University of Melbourne, will be co-supervised by faculty at IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Madras or IISC. Alternatively, students enrolled in one of the three Indian institutions will have access to co-supervision with Melbourne academics.
