ICAR is an agriculture entrance exam conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It is an all India entrance exam for Bachelor degree programmes in agriculture and allied subjects (other than Veterinary Science) for admission in Agricultural Universities. ICAR Eligibility Criteria • Nationality: Must be an Indian National. • Age: Not less than 16 years. • Academic Qualification o One applying to Stream A- Candidate must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Exam of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other exam within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Exam of an Indian Board/ University after a period of 12 years of study with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Agriculture/ Home Science o One applying to Stream B- One should have passed 10+2 exam or equivalent necessarily with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. o One appearing in class 12 or equivalent can also apply. • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC and UPS categories and 40% marks in aggregate for SC, ST and PC categories. • Universities situated in the Non-Hindi Speaking States: For admission into such universities, one must have passed English as the core subject in Class 12. • Students who had Intermediate with Agriculture but without Physics & Chemistry - One can take admission into State Agriculture Universities (SAU) in Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. ICAR Exam Pattern ICAR Exam will be conducted in two streams and student can appear in any one of the two subjects: Stream A comprising Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture/ Biology Stream B comprising Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Physics & Chemistry Exam will be common for both the streams. Stream–A There will be questions on Biology as well as Agriculture subject, out of which the candidate has to choose only one subject, either Biology or Agriculture. Stream–B There will be questions on Mathematics subject. ICAR Exam Question paper for the examination shall be bilingual, i.e., in ENGLISH and Hindi. It will have 180 multiple choice objective type questions i.e. Subject Questions Physics 60 questions Chemistry 60 questions Agriculture/Biology/Mathematics 60 Questions Questions have four options each. The students have to answer the question with black/blue ball point pen. Each correctly answered question will earn four marks. There is a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer or questions with multiple answers. |
