No Sanjay, Government of Uttarakhand not Conduct Indian Forest Service Exam infact this Exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) once in a year

Eligibility criteria for this Exam:

Age Limit:


Your age must be between 21 years 32 years.
Upper age limit is relaxable in some cases.

Academic Qualification:
Candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects - Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering.

Number of Attempts:
Six attempts but this is not applicable in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.



Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure


Indian Forest Service Examination consist of two stages i.e. preliminary and main exam.
The civil services (preliminary) examination (objective type) will be held for the screening and selection of the candidates for Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination.

After passing preliminary exam you will go through Indian Forest Service (Main Examination which consists written test and interview.

(i) Preliminary Examination: The exam will have two papers, which are compulsory, and having 200 marks each. The duration of each paper will be of 2 hours. Extra time of 20 minutes will be available for blind candidates.

(ii) Main Examination: The following papers will be held for the Main IFS Exam.

Paper I -> General English -> 300 marks

Paper II -> General Knowledge -> 300 marks

Paper III, IV, V & VI ā€“ Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers. -> 200 marks each

The syllabus for optional subject is based on the Bachelors Degree and lowers than the Master Degree.


List of optional subjects (Subject to provisions below):

-Agriculture
-Agricultural Engineering
-Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
-Botany
-Chemistry
-Chemical Engineering
-Civil Engineering
-Forestry
-Geology
-Mathematics
-Mechanical Engineering
-Physics
-Statistics
-Zoology
-Provided that the candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combination of subjects:
-Agricultural and Agricultural Engineering
-Agricultural and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
-Chemistry and Chemical Engg.
-Mathematics and Statistics.
-Of the Engineering subjects viz. Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering ā€“ not more than one subject;
